The choreographer behind Traces, Wim Vandekeybus, is one of the foremost and best-known choreographers in Europe. In this energetic and gripping production, he takes us into an era when nature was at the centre of things. With a physically brilliant and strongly theatrical expression, he creates a mesmerising production, accompanied by a suggestive soundscape of rock music. It starts with a scene in which the balance of nature is disturbed by a murder and a motorway being cut through the forest. It ends in a threatening, yet comical way, with nature getting its revenge, and a bear playing a key role.
