Have you ever reflected over the close connection between art history and the general development of society? The history of dance in the 20th century is closely linked to industrialization, women’s liberation, wars, politics and revolutions.

This episode focuses on barefoot dancing and how this is closely connected with women's liberation and voting rights. We get acquainted with Isadora Duncan and Loie Fuller, and how these artists influenced Norwegians Gyda Christensen and Botten Soot.

Episode 2: World war sets in. From Russia to Norway: The breakthrough of the ballet
In this episode we take a closer look on how classical ballet made its breakthrough in Norway and the Russian influence on this. We also focus on how first world war influenced art. We meet Ballet Russes and learn about their cooperation with other European artists, and get to know Noway´s first prima ballerina, Lillebil Ibsen.

Episode 3: Feathers and freedom – body and status in revue dance
The revue dance, the American influence with its elaborate shows and the 20tie´s Jazz Age is in focus in this episode. We get to know the American impresario Florenz Ziegfled and not lest the Swedish equivalent, Erst Rolf, who introduced the extravagant revues to Norway. We also get familiar with Tutte Lemkow and the relatively unknown twins Pål and Leif Roschberg, The Rocky Twins, who danced both in drag and traditional male costumes.
