Welcome to Dansens Hus and Oslo Pix Filmfestival's dance film program.
Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th August, Oslo Pix Film Festival and Dansens Hus invite you to a dance film program here at Dansens Hus.
The program consists of short films, a historical musical film from Hollywood's golden age and a brand new documentary. In addition, there will be a discursive platform with a panel discussion and lectures on Hollywood's influence on contemporary dance.
Seven short films will be screened, all of which show how dance and choreography function as tools of creation, structure, narrative and storytelling in film. In the foyer, six short films are exhibited. Together, they talk about how the body is shaped by the world around us. The short film program is followed by the documentary Teaches for Peaches, which gives an insight into the career of the artist Peaches and the tour “The Teaches of Peaches Anniversary Tour”. Day two examines dance from Hollywood from the 1930s to the present day. As well as discussing how dance and choreography on the biggest screens has influenced popular culture and contemporary dance, excerpts from famous films will be shown. The program concludes with Audrey Hepburn's musical debut, the romantic comedy Funny Face.
All films are shown at Dansens Hus.
