Carte Blanche

Øy is inspired by stories of isolation, vandalism and deserted, closed rooms. In a hybrid between a spa resort and a fantasy battlefield, the production searches for a chance to get away. Far away, or could it be deep within.
The audience is invited to join seven dancers in an attempt to escape from an all-consuming vacuum. Choreographer Ole Martin Meland’s work is direct and unpolished. He is joined on stage by the experimental pop duo Smerz, who create a dreadfully beautiful soundscape, inspired by horror and romance.
Øy searches for the alternative narratives about the underdog. The silent driving force. The people we don’t yet know anything about.
