Workshop: Silvia Gribaudi
In dance a “corps de ballet” is the group of dancers who are not principal dancers or soloists. It is the equivalent to the chorus in opera. They perform the group scenes of a ballet and often support the principal dancers and soloists in the background. The dancers of a corps de ballet perform their steps in unison.
Their unity makes them unique and powerful.
The workshop, with irony and joyfulness, will lead to create a “CORPS DE BALLET” [BODY OF THE BALLET] in the meaning of a BODY OF THE COMMUNITY.
The corps de ballet usually moves in unison, in a synchronized way, but we will enhance the body and its multiple varieties, by highlighting the beauty of contrast within a collective body.
How can we be a body of the ballet today?
What does it mean to be both a body and a community?
