This workshop will be led by dancer and maker Dan Mussett, who has been working with Jan Martens since 2017. Mussett is part of the cast for Martens' any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones, a production in which the resistance of dance and the power of diversity are vital elements. In this workshop, together with the participants, he will revisit part of any attempt's creative process.
Dan will work with the complex score of Gorecki's Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings Op.40, which acts as a unifying pillar for the 17 movement solos in any attempt will end in crushed bodies and shattered bones.
Each participant will be invited to create their own short solo movement phrases by translating the music (its rhythm, energy, and general feeling) into, and with their own body. The workshop will focus on precision, coordination, rhythm, musicality, and the feeling of moving together with a group in the most individual way possible.

He also works as a performer with Ayelen Parolin, currently in the performance WEG.
As a maker, he created ddddddddddduettttttttttttttttttttttttt (2018) together with Laurent Delom, a performance that asks how far it is possible to become someone else, and THE DATING PROJECT (2021), an interactive game in which strangers are brought together to re-enact situations from contemporary dating experiences by following a series of instructions on a smartphone. He developed the project as a research fellow at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts/Royal Conservatory of Antwerp from 2020-2022, where he now works as a teacher and mentor in the BA Dance program.
He is drawn to notions of joy and pleasure as guiding principles of his work and life.
