Karstein Solli has been involved in Arts Council Norway’s Klangfugl projects for children aged between 0-6 in the 1990s and the Glitterbird EU project from 2003-2006 with the production Se min kjolefor children aged between 0-3. As artistic director of Seanse, the centre for art production www.seanse, Karstein Solli has been involved in organising three Småkunstfestivals for very young children, first at DH in 2012, and the most recent in September 2018 in collaboration with Teaterhuset Avant Garden in Trondheim.
Karstein is a performance artist and choreographer/director in Karstein Solli Produksjoner. Associate professor in plays, drama and theatre communication. Artistic director of Seanse, the centre for art production in Volda. He has studied at the Ecole Jaques Lecoq mime and theatre school in Paris, Desmond Jones School of Mime in London and in the Academy of Theatre and Dance’s mime department in Amsterdam.
He has taught at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Den Norske Ballethøgskole teaches at the University College of Dance Art. Solli has also presented guest workshops and seminars at universities and colleges in Norway and abroad.
With his experience in art and teaching, he has a unique knowledge of interdisciplinary forms of expression. He creates distinctive productions which have always met with a good reception and recognition. He has been receiving the Government Guaranteed Income for Artists since 1997. His productions have toured in the Nordic countries, Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Chile, Brazil and others.
