Overstått eller nært forestående 25.–26. October

Doublebill with Terje Tjøme Mossige

Overstått eller nært forestående came into being when the two dancers Marianne Kjærsund and Erik Rulin met. The choreographer’s source of inspiration was the dancers’ distinctive dynamic and powerful expressivity, their differences and similarities. Composer and musician Tov Ramstad teams up with the dancers to present a specially composed work for cello.

The work is an interplay between femininity and masculinity, where woman and man are given equal status. The interplay takes place across the genders, and explores the underlying motivations behind masculine and feminine mentality, emotionality and action. Not through the external signs or signals that we recognise in cultural and social contexts, but motivations that come from an inner, mental landscape.

The title Overstått eller nært forestående (Almost over or nearly imminent) refers to something disturbing, a sense of uncertainty that can also be expressed as: Has something happened, or is something about happen? How do we relate – whether we are male or female – to the world we live in, a world in constant change with threats of various kinds? How do the changes affect us subconsciously? How do we tackle uncertainty, individually and with each other?

The production is presented in conjunction with Terje Tjøme Mossige’s Beside. Both productions involve trios, with two dancers and one musician on the stage. Beside is performed first. There will then be a 20 minute interval before Overstått eller nært forestående is performed.
